The Suncoast Amateur Radio Society

Who We Are

The idea of the Suncoast Amateur Radio Society was initiated by a group of ham radio enthusiasts with well over 100 years of radio experience, looking for fresh ideas and a new way to put the camaraderie, socialization, and educational aspects back into amateur radio.

Because the Society is not a formal club, our concern is not with the business and politics of running an amateur radio organization. Instead, our objective is to provide a regular opportunity for amateur radio operators of varying experience levels, to get together and focus on the operational and educational side of amateur radio.

Education

Through discussions, hands on demonstrations, and presentations, our goal is to create an interesting and enjoyable forum for exchanging ideas and hopefully learn something new in the process.

Participation

Participation in the Society is strictly voluntary. There are no officers or committies set up to handle specific duties. Instead, the Society will be a collaborative effort by anyone who wants to help. Everyone has a particular talent, so put that talent to work and be part of the team. If you have a favorite aspect of amateur radio you'd like to tell others about, give a demonstration. If you'd like to work on an amateur radio project, discuss it and you may be able to recruit some additional help. Do you have a question about a certain aspect of the hobby? Ask ... and you'll probably get an answer. The more things and ideas brought to the table, the more we can all learn and benefit.
